Joanna Bond received funding for TRWSIO (“mend”), a project focused on dialogues with nine artists, performance explorations and making.

TRWSiO explores the question, “How do we become whole again, and what is broken?” by addressing family trauma through repair, mending, and performance. Joanna’s work examines loss, fragmentation, and the body as a “vessel” holding stories of pain and resilience.

Artist Adeola contributes her unique perspective to these discussions.

Over one day together, Joanna and Adéọlá explored themes of spirit, ritual language, healing, mending, colonialism, the Welsh language, and the embodied practice of “wearing your  story.”

About Adéọlá Dewis:
A Trinidadian Diaspora artist, Adéọlá draws on folk and indigenous traditions, especially Trinidad Carnival and ritual masking, to explore identity, transformation, and healing, creating therapeutic spaces for displaced communities and grounding her work in her experiences as a mother and migrant.

About Joanna Bond:

Joanna is an interdisciplinary artist rooted in the Welsh landscape, drawing on her experiences as a woman, and mother, and her interest in consciousness and spirit. Her practice spans dance, ceramics, music, voice, performance art, and collage, documented through photography, film, and audio.
